When primary hydraulic landing gear systems fail, Cobham's
pneumatic emergency landing gear blow down systems are used to
unlock, lower and relock the main landing gear structure in the
down position providing a backup method of landing gear
actuation. In the event of a failure to the landing gear
hydraulic system, nitrogen gas contained within the storage vessel
is distributed to the landing gear through the connected manifold
assembly. Cobham's emergency landing gear blow down systems set the
industry standard in performance, weight and reliability.
Since 1988, Cobham has supplied the Landing Gear Blow down
System for various military aircraft platforms including unmanned
air vehicles, tilt rotor aircraft, trainer/light attack and rotary
aircraft platforms.
