Process Engineer

Cobham is looking for a Screening Process Engineer.    As a Screening Engineer with the team in San Jose, CA, you will support microwave frequency package manufacturing and environmental stress screening for products used in defense electronic systems.

•Provide daily production support to the environmental stress screening area by taking a hands-on approach evaluating defects, working with operators and troubleshooting machines
•Areas that will be supported included temperature cycling, burn-in, vibration testing and laser welding
•Secondary areas that will be supported includes mechanical inspection of housings, painting and reviewing defects related to glass to metal sealing
•Evaluate processes by running surveys and characterizations of equipment
•Understand customer required screening specifications and run tests to determine if they can be completed internally
•Apply statistical process controls to monitor area compliance metrics
•Design and run engineering tests to improve and develop new processes
•Troubleshoot machines and processes on the manufacturing line to keep production running
•Train operators and write work instructions to document key process steps

Minimum Requirements:
•Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering with 2-5 years of manufacturing experience or a manufacturing internship/co-op experience.
•Must have demonstrated ability to make improvements to manufacturing processes
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Ability and desire to work hands-on in a team environment is necessary
•Flexibility to support a variety of areas and ability to manage time between these areas
•This position requires US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Security Clearance
