Cobham is seeking an
Engineering Technician IV to perform
operational tests on highly complex RF developmental and production
components, subassemblies and systems involving a thorough working
knowledge of advanced theory, instrumentation, measurement
techniques, and trouble shooting. This position is in Lansdale, PA.
Responsibilities:
- Determines, sets up and operates a wide variety of standard
test stands consisting of PNA’s/PNA-X’s, Spectrum Analyzers,
oscilloscopes, amplifiers, and other complex test equipment.
- Verifies and analyzes test results. Troubleshoots repairs and
adjusts so that the parts performance complies with test
requirements, and that the quality of the product is assured.
Determines when rework is necessary to ensure product compliance
with specifications.
- Recommends changes in test procedures and specifications that
will contribute to the improvement of testing efficiency and
capabilities.
- Works from a variety of documents including test
specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics, etc. where complete
information is frequently lacking or from general oral
engineering instructions requiring technical judgment,
initiative and experience.
- Instructs and gives technical direction to lesser-classified
technicians.
- Will work directly with Design Engineers on development
programs and advanced measurement programs.
- Will work independently or with junior technicians and
engineers on recurring test (production) programs.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (AEET)
and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience relevant RF test
experience.
- Experience working in an engineering laboratory on production
and development environment.
- Experience gathering, processing, and analyzing RF signals in
the Microwave and millimeter wave domains using various test
facilities using measurement instrumentation (PNA-X, Spectrum
Analyzers, ENAs, etc.).
- In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be
eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which
requires USA Citizenship.
- Travel- typically less than 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with RF circuits such as amplifiers, Up/Down
Converters, Mixers and Filters,
- Experience in setting up test configurations across various RF
frequency ranges using network analyzers, amplifiers, power
meters, generators, RF Cabling/Connectors, and associated
equipment required to make RF measurements.
- Experience with interpreting complex performance and
acceptance test specification and procedure required for testing
RF components.
- Experience with tuning RF paths for VSWR, Noise Figure and
Gain in the uW and mmW frequency range.
- Proficient with using small hand tools and complex tooling (i.e.
soldering irons, hot plates, drills, manual punches).
Fabricate assemblies utilizing build – to – print skills to meet
engineering and prototype requirements.
